A memory from Julie:  
In 1976 Ed brought his oldest 19-year-old daughter, Julie, to Alaska and his Trapper Creek cabin.  He had started digging a hole for the outhouse and had good-sized depression about 2 ½ feet deep started, when his determined daughter took over.  Knowing that if she cleaned-up, she would never again go back down into that pit, Julie dug well into the evening and by the twilight of the midnight sun until the job was completed.  Ed cheered her on all the way and was very thankful.
